The NordicTrack SpaceSaver Elliptical doesn’t just save space, it is a budget elliptical that saves money, and with elliptical saving money means trouble ahead. Comments of users point out that the elliptical is noisy, uncomfortable and below the 18’’ strides length it is uncomfortable. And if you look at the 1 year warranty for everything from frame to motor, it raises some red flags immediately for this price range.

Yes, it has the advantage that it can be folded up and it is a budget elliptical that doesn’t crash your family budget, but the quality is shaky and not recommended if you are not really tight on your money.

Budget Elliptical Trainer

The NordicTrack SpaceSaver Elliptical has one feature that catches the attention of everyone, the adjustable stride with three options of 12’’, 15’’ and 18’’. Adjustable strides are great, but this one doesn’t fit everybody’s needs. It is good for anyone below 5’6’’, if you are taller than this, you will be in trouble if you try anything lower than an 18’’ stride.

That is why most adjustable strides features give options above the 18’’ and not as low as 12’’, it is just uncomfortable for most people to go that low. It is good for women that usually have an average height below men. Maybe that is the target market for this elliptical.

The fact that it can be folded is another plus for this elliptical, but it comes with minuses. The construction of the elliptical with this feature doesn’t make it solid. Customers complain that it actually moves side to side when in speedier exercises.

Other pluses are: the 10 built in programs, the display and the built in fan. For what you pay you can’t expect much more than this. For a budget elliptical it is a good choice, but it has many quality flaws and there are other options on the market that may be better than this one for you.

The NordicTrack Commercial 1300 Elliptical has received good reviews from happy customers on the internet, who seem to enjoy the overall performance of this elliptical. The only point that draws some negative comments is the 90 days warranty on parts and service that isn’t really good for the quality of this elliptical.

Another thing is that this elliptical even though it is solid and built to last long years it isn’t really into the commercial grade of elliptical; it is to be considered a budget elliptical within the price range that it falls. It has a good construction, backed by a good pack of features and it is rated consistently a best buy by customers.

Good quality in a bargain

The NordicTrack Commercial 1300 Elliptical is a great home elliptical, the name commercial is only a name that the manufacturer puts on it, do not expect a commercial performance from this elliptical. Commercial elliptical are supposed to be built to live inside a health club and withstand the pounding of lots of users 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and live through it, this elliptical has quality but not this commercial grade of quality.

One innovation that users seem to enjoy on this elliptical is the Quick Target Toning, what it does is that with the touch of a button you can choose which muscle group you want to work and the elliptical will automatically adjust incline and resistance to target those muscles.

All the features on this elliptical are what you should look for and desire in a machine like this, the power incline, 18’’ stride length, stable and sturdy, solid and with a max user capacity of 350 pounds, heavy duty steel frame, balanced flywheel and traction control pedals. For all that you get, the price you pay is a bargain.

We only point out the same as everyone else points as a weakness in this elliptical trainer, the 90 days warranty doesn’t mirror the quality of the elliptical and its components, it is as if the manufacturer itself doesn’t trust such a great product.

NordicTrack Elite 1300 Elliptical Review

I applaud Nordic Track on having higher end machines that aim to match machines in the $1,000- $1,500 range, but in their attempt to do so they carried along a lot of the same material issues that have plagued NordicTrack from the start.

People are unfortunately fooled by the price tag and buy the machine thinking that it is a much better machine than lower priced machines Nordic Track already sell. This I believe is a mistake.

The features are good, but for a $1500 machine they are not great. Having a 20″ stride is a start but it does not make the 1300 a great machine, that fact alone does not even make it an adequate one.

Lacking in many of the higher end features commonly included on machines in this price range, namely a decent warranty, the Elite 1300 doesn’t have any unique features to brag about.

Squeaky and Jerky

An 18 pound fly-wheel can occasionally be excused if it does not result in a noticeable lack of smoothness. In a $1500 machine I would expect a heavier flywheel and a smoother operation, but alas they are missing in this machine.

The good points of the machine might be a decent variety of programs and pedals which are actually quite comfortable and enjoyable, but beyond that the machine is severely lacking in all quality which matches its price range.

Although it is quite common for cheaper machines to start have major vibration and noise issues after the first few months, at $1500 the machines are usually not prone to having great deal of noise complaints.

With the Nordic Track Elite 1300 noises are common even early on and can range from squeaks and groans to high pitched rasping noises. In some cases proper maintainence will greatly help this problem but even with proper lubing the Elite 1300 is a rather noisy machine.

At the price I also usually expect to see a decent console and a number of entertainment options, but on this machine that is not the case. More that anything I was disappointed that the Nordic track line can be so large but still have the same problems on its small and its large machines.

Poor Value For Money

Companies like Smooth and Sole have a number of machines that a similarly priced to the Nordic Track Elite 1300, they all carry a better warranty, have better features, and provide a much better value. It surprises me that the Nordic Track can be so poor yet keep a prestigeous name.

Customer reviews of this machine are often misleading because customers review the product before things go wrong 6 months after using the machine 5 times a week.

I suggest to talk to someone who has extensively used any nordic track machine you are interested in for years before you purchase it.
