The NordicTrack SpaceSaver Elliptical doesn’t just save space, it is a budget elliptical that saves money, and with elliptical saving money means trouble ahead. Comments of users point out that the elliptical is noisy, uncomfortable and below the 18’’ strides length it is uncomfortable. And if you look at the 1 year warranty for everything from frame to motor, it raises some red flags immediately for this price range.

Yes, it has the advantage that it can be folded up and it is a budget elliptical that doesn’t crash your family budget, but the quality is shaky and not recommended if you are not really tight on your money.

NordicTrack SpaceSaver Elliptical Specifications

Budget Elliptical Trainer

The NordicTrack SpaceSaver Elliptical has one feature that catches the attention of everyone, the adjustable stride with three options of 12’’, 15’’ and 18’’. Adjustable strides are great, but this one doesn’t fit everybody’s needs. It is good for anyone below 5’6’’, if you are taller than this, you will be in trouble if you try anything lower than an 18’’ stride.

That is why most adjustable strides features give options above the 18’’ and not as low as 12’’, it is just uncomfortable for most people to go that low. It is good for women that usually have an average height below men. Maybe that is the target market for this elliptical.

The fact that it can be folded is another plus for this elliptical, but it comes with minuses. The construction of the elliptical with this feature doesn’t make it solid. Customers complain that it actually moves side to side when in speedier exercises.

Other pluses are: the 10 built in programs, the display and the built in fan. For what you pay you can’t expect much more than this. For a budget elliptical it is a good choice, but it has many quality flaws and there are other options on the market that may be better than this one for you.

NordicTrack SpaceSaver Elliptical at a Glance…

Pros:

Foldable

Affordable

Cons:

Weak warranty

Weak overall quality

The NordicTrack SpaceSaver Elliptical is a good elliptical if you do not expect much from it and you can’t buy something better than this. The thing is that probably for the same money you can find another elliptical that is better than this if you look better into other brands catalogs and options. Stay away and look somewhere else for a well built elliptical.

The Stamina SpaceMate E100 Elliptical Trainer is much recommended for those with lesser space in their homes. If you have been longing for an exercise routine in the comfort of their homes, worry no longer! You can now burn extra calories by working out on SpaceMate E100 elliptical trainer in the com fort of your own home. Along with less space consumption it costs less as well. You can easily shed off those extra pounds without hurting your joints and back.

Resistance knob with which it can be increased or decreased

Warranty: frame warranty for 1 year, for parts warranty is provided for 90 days

Best for a Limited Workout Routine

If its specifications leave you thinking that this elliptical will do you wonders, you might need to reconsider your thoughts. This elliptical is good for those who just want a short time and a less rigorous workout. However, if you want a good trainer that can keep you in shape , E100 may not be the best choice. Though it is a space saver but has a very limited motion space. And, you cannot run on this trainer. What you can do is walking a little fast. When you step up it starts pumping up which makes it uncomfortable for the user to use it.

Here’s what a user had to say:

“This is a little uncomfortable because the handlebar is a little short. Another 6 inches would be great! Overall it is a nice machine. I like it.”

And another user felt this:

It is very unstable and customers have experienced it quite often. When you exercise on it, you will need some extra support. Without any support you may even fall down. Also, the display screen offers limited usability and switches gets off after some time. Thus, you cannot record your workout session which is one of the major drawbacks of E100. The stress that you experience while working on this trainer will surely affect your thigh muscles.

The machine has attracted a lot of negative comments despite being adjustable and quiet.

Stamina SpaceMate at a Glance…

Pros:

Easy to use and handle

Adjustable

Takes less space

Comfortable

Quiet operation

Cons:

Limited range of motion

Extremely short pauses

Short handlebar

Unstable

Falls apart

Hard to read monitor

Consider buying E100 only if you really don’t have another option.

Impressed with its great assembly and performance a user commented:

“Great assembly instructions, very well packaged, easy to use (read the manual first), and by the looks of it, it should give me years of service.

A shame the heart rate pads are only on the small horizontal handles, and not on the verticals as well. “

It looks much like a conventional elliptical trainer stripped away from almost everything, except the skeleton.

It is sturdy and can hold a user with up to 250 pounds. It has several workout options and a display that monitors speed, distance and burned calories. It was built thinking on basic and general needs of users from an elliptical trainer. It isn’t the best quality elliptical trainer you will find, but it is good enough for most people.

Gazelle Edge Specifications

Programs- 10 training exercises

Frame- 1-0.5’’ gauge steel construction

Max user weight- 250 pounds

Cheap and great

The unique design for the Gazelle Edge came from the mind of fitness guru Tony Little. The basic idea was to get the same cardio workout as in a treadmill but with less impact on the body. After some engineering meetings, here it is the Gazelle Edge.

When you use the Gazelle Edge is like floating while running, it is the same as an elliptical trainer that provides the user an excellent cardiovascular training. Considering that you would have a treadmill side by side with the Gazelle Edge, you can actually burn more calories with the Gazelle Edge, if the treadmill is set to flat terrain.

By increasing the incline and resistance on the treadmill, or any elliptical trainer, you can burn much more calories than with the Gazelle Edge. And this the major disadvantage from the Gazelle Edge, it has only one resistance level and no incline levels.

It allows a complete range of motion and freedom of movement, with a patented dual action split suspension. The foot platforms are extra wide and made with non skid materials. It is completely smooth and quiet and perfect to have in the house- Beyond this, it comes with an easy to use computer that provides feedback on speed, distance, time and calories burned.

Overall it is a great idea; it provides a great alternative to elliptical trainers, treadmills or even stationary bikes, which are much more expensive than the Gazelle Edge. It provides a very low impact workout, better for anyone with back or joint problems. But, it needs to be used regularly to actually help you get some significant results from your workout.

Gazelle Edge at a Glance…

Pros:

Less impact on the body than other elliptical trainers

Inexpensive

Cons:

No options for interval training

Large and needs space to be used

The Gazelle Edge is very cheap if you compare to the options of elliptical trainers or treadmills. It does take about the same space as the others, and you may want to spend a few more dollars if you want to take advantage of more programs offered from elliptical trainers like steady inclines or increased resistances.

The Healthrider 330 is a low cost elliptical trainer that helps you burn calories, do cardiovascular exercises and tone your body, with low impact on your body. It has all the essential and basic features needed in an elliptical trainer and the 12 level resistance gives you efficiency in your workouts. It isn’t the best option for elliptical trainers’ enthusiasts, but it will fit the needs of new users.

For the price you pay and the quality you get from the Healthrider 330, either you buy it to have the whole family exercising on it, and probably you will get problems and will need some maintenance, or if you are alone, better to enroll in a gym for a year and then buy a better elliptical trainer.

Healthrider 330 Specifications

Programs- 6 preset and 2 learn programs

Display- Blue backlit display

Resistance- Silent Magnetic Resistance with 12 levels

Stride Length- 18’’

Warranty- 1 year for parts and labor

Low cost elliptical trainer

The Healthrider 330 Silent Magnetic Resistance gives you an elliptical motion while working out, increasing the efficiency of cardio exercises and reducing the damaging impact to your body. It has 12 levels of resistance, with 6 preset programs and 2 learn programs, which will be challenging to you whatever you fitness levels are.

The blue backlit console displays all the essential information you need to monitor your workout sessions, while the EKG Heart Rate Monitors placed in the handles helps you to keep you heart rate in the right training zone.

The Healthrider 330 has several limitations that will put some deals off, if not everyone. It is not suited for heavy weight users or elliptical trainers’ enthusiasts. For the price you pay for the Healthrider 330 you can expect lots of cheap plastic components and that it will be noisy.

It has a weak warranty that only covers parts and labor for one year, considering the likelihood that parts on a budget machine like this will eventually break and need maintenance, the money saved may not be worth the investment on the long term.

Plus, it has been noted on some reviews that the Healthrider 330 doesn’t have a comfortable ride and the pedal motion doesn’t give the user a good oval feel. Overall it doesn’t provide a solid performance and it falls behind many of its competitors at the same price range.

Healthrider 330 at a Glance…

Pros:

Budget friendly

Doesn’t move side to side and is balanced while in use

Cons:

Weak warranty

Low quality materials and noisy

If you are looking into buying a Healthrider 330 then it is time to stop and look at the options before any decisions, there are better options within the same price range and if you will be the only user then it would be better to just take advantage of first class elliptical trainers in a gym.

The Image 8.25 Elliptical Trainer is something like a what-you-see-is-what-you-get elliptical trainer, and don’t expect much more out from it. It is produced in large quantities and Image doesn’t seem to be looking for a quality product as much as it is looking for a low production cost.

It has a MyTracks step counter, heart rate control and monitor, oversized pedals, silent magnetic resistance and some nice programs. It isn’t that sturdy and breaks easily, the design beyond not being that beautifully thought out, it also gives some discomfort while using it. And the warranty is practically nothing, 90 days is a major red flag from the producer that almost expects this product to break in your hands.

Image 8.25 Elliptical Trainer Specifications

Programs- 2 personal trainer programs

Display- Yellow tinted large LCD display, monitors speed, time, distance, calories burned and pulse

Resistance- Silent Magnetic Resistance

Stride Length- 18’’

Warranty- 90 days for motor, frame, parts and labor

Dimensions- 68’’ W x 66’’ H x 24’’ D

Weight- 115 pounds

Max user weight- 250 pounds

Stay away from this elliptical trainer

Don’t take our word for it, just go over the internet and find hundreds of complaints about the Image 8.25 Elliptical Trainer. Even for the price you pay for it, in the long term, or on less than the 90 days covered by the warranty, most probably you will have troubles. And to get by the customer service of Image it takes a lot of patience.

It isn’t designed for overweight users, over 113 pounds the Image 8.25 will become unstable, and tall users will find it hard to fit in the machine. One good point in favor of the Image 8.25 is the 18’’ stride that is bigger than most elliptical trainers on this price range.

If you buy one of these elliptical then you’d better not expect much from it and don’t demand much from it, it will eventually wear out and break. Weak points can be found in the large knobs that place and tight the arms, they will become loose and the arms will fall out of place. Also the machine was built with mainly bushings, rather than sealed bearings, which are easier to wear out.

Other features are dual grip heart rate monitor with pulse sensors built into the handle bars, oversized pedals that accommodate different sizes and positions and a MyTracks step counter that will keep on counting each step as you do your exercises.

As a final word the Image 8.25 Elliptical Trainer is a low price, low quality option and the 90 days warranty on motor, frame, parts and labor should give you a hint that you will get yourself in trouble if it breaks, and it will probably break. Even with the extended warranty, good luck getting through the customer service of Imagine.

Image 8.25 Elliptical Trainer at a Glance…

Pros:

Budget friendly

18” stride length

Cons

Poor warranty

Low quality materials and construction

Lots of complaints from previous owners

Either you are a young adult that doesn’t have much money to buy a better elliptical trainer and want to buy one, or you are a senior workout enthusiast looking for an affordable elliptical trainer, for either of you, if you don’t put too much strain on the Image 8.25 Elliptical Trainer, it may be a good choice. For everyone else, just stay away from this product.

It is kind of hard to go below a price tag of $500 and still build a good quality elliptical trainer, but the Ironman 130E does it and doesn’t disappoint in its performance. The Ironman 130E is a manual elliptical trainer, meaning that it doesn’t need any power supply, it doesn’t have lots of extras and its biggest quality is the solid construction and the durability.

If you are buying an elliptical trainer for the first time then this is the best choice for you, it does everything you need in a very efficient way. For what you pay you will have a good quality elliptical trainer, reliable and strong, don’t worry about the Ironman 130E breaking down, cause it just won’t.

Ironman 130E Specifications

Display- LCD display console with scrolling window

Resistance- Manual resistance with 8 levels

Stride Length- 14’’

Warranty- Lifetime frame, 1 year on parts and electronics

Dimensions- 22’’ W x 59’’ L x 59’’ D

Weight- 110 pounds

Max user weight- 250 pounds

Solid, compact and durable

It is kind of tricky to buy an elliptical trainer with a price tag below $500; they usually are poorly built to keep production costs low. But the Ironman 130E is a good and safe choice for this price range.

The only things you will be missing from more elaborate and expensive trainers are: the preset programs, the resistance isn’t manual and all sorts of bells and whistles that first time buyers can do well without.

The 14’’ stride is a bit small, but nevertheless gives the user a smooth and nice glide. It is sturdy and a bit heavy, giving a top of the class comfort during exercises because it doesn’t wobble or move while in action.

It has front end wheels that make it relatively easy to move around. Since you don’t have to plug it to any power outlet, the LCD console is run on batteries. The Ironman 130E has eight resistance levels have to be set manually and doesn’t have any preset programs.

There are some customers that have complained about the noise level of the Ironman 130E, but it isn’t that much of a disturbance and it is worse on other models for the same price range. As mentioned above, there isn’t much that manufacturers can offer below $500, but Ironman does offer the best choice.

It has a sleek and aerodynamic look, is small and finds easily its space in any house or apartment, plus it is easy to move around, even though it is a bit heavy. So, overall it is one of the best choices that you can find for an elliptical trainer with a price tag below $500.

Ironman 130E at a Glance…

Pros:

Sturdy, compact and built to last a lifetime

Doesn’t move while in use

Good warranty

Cons:

14’’ stride length

A bit noisy

If you are not into bells and whistles and want to buy a good elliptical trainer at an affordable price, then the Ironman 130E is what you are looking for. There isn’t much room for expectations, but you can fully expect a solid construction from Ironman that will last forever.

Conditioning your body is important when working out but your body is not the only one that is needed to be conditioned. Your mind also needs to be conditioned and by knowing what to expect, you can prepare yourself mentally.

Of course there are the other features that will help you achieve your fitness goals like the ClearView backlit display which makes it easier for beginners to read time, speed, distance, resistance, pulse and the calories burned. The EKG heart rate monitor helps you monitor your heart rate. And the CoolAire Workout Fan promotes for you to have a comfortable workout.

The reason why ProForm 500 F is not best for advanced users and for habitual elliptical users is because it is not that durable. The warranty is also questionable. Some even reported that the cheap parts are easily broken. It’s also bulky and hard to set-up.

ProForm 500 F Elliptical at a Glance

Pros:

Cheap price

User friendly

Offers flexibility on work out

Has Target Pacer to aid you in your workout

Has features to make your workout comfortable and easier

Cons:

Lacks durability

Warranty Coverage to short

Cheap parts that are easily broken

Bulky

Hard to set-up

The Proform 500 F Elliptical Trainer is perfect for beginners and not for advanced users. It’s a good machine to have in your home for display purposes but it’s not good if you use it on a daily basis as it easily breaks down because of its cheap parts. It’s not one of those machines that comes highly recommended but with its price, it could be a good buy just to set the mood and condition your mind for exercise.

It has some advantages compared to the conventional elliptical trainers, and it has even more disadvantages that probably take this little guy out of the game of elliptical trainers.

It has a sturdy steel construction and it is somewhat stable when in use, the problem is that without the handles you may find it hard yourself to be stable and don’t fall of the Stamina InMotion E1000 Elliptical. Some users have been placing the machine in front of a chair or near a wall as a way to regain balance and keep on exercising.

Stamina InMotion E1000 Elliptical Specifications

Max weight user- 250 pounds

Warranty- 1 year frame, 90 days parts and labor

Weight- 24 pounds

Dimensions- 24’’ L x 20’’ W x 12 H

Compact design taken to the limit

It doesn’t have arm bars or a front console, it was designed with the foot pedals and a chassis in the middle, making it small enough to be stored anywhere you like in your house or office. Its dimensions are 24’’ L x 20’’ W x 12 H and weighs only 24 pounds.

It has an electronic fitness monitor that tracks the number of strides per minute, total strides, total time and calories burned and non slip pedals. And this is basically it, if you are not expecting a full blown elliptical exercise then the Stamina InMotion E1000 Elliptical will meet your needs.

Since it is small the stride length is minimal, meaning that tall and overweight people can’t use without feeling uncomfortable, even for regular users it will be a bit uncomfortable and takes time to get used to it the first time you try it. After that, either you will love it or return it if you can.

It is good for people that weigh less than 170 pounds, it gives a balanced and smooth feel, quiet and can have impressing results. The low price and the extremely compact design are points of attraction for other customers of the Stamina InMotion E1000 Elliptical that allows them to carry it to wherever they go.

As a final word, the Stamina 55-1610 InMotion E1000 Elliptical Trainer can’t get more basic as an elliptical trainer as it is. It is small and compact, that is it main advantage and disadvantage, you can use it and carry it to wherever you like, but it doesn’t fit anyone who wants to use it.

Good fitness equipment doesn’t come with low price tags, it takes a lot for a company to manufacture a good elliptical trainer for less than $500, the price of the Weslo Momentum 220X is within this range but isn’t near good quality levels.

Sooner or later this machine will give you troubles, the frame isn’t stable enough, it is noisy and unreliable, some customers complain that within weeks there are squeaky noises coming from inside the Weslo Momentum 220X, and the 90 days warranty is short enough to raise red flags all over the board.

Weslo Momentum 220X Specifications

Resistance- Silent Magnetic Resistance, 10 levels

Stride Length- 18’’

Programs- 4 Personal Trainer Workouts

Warranty- 90 days parts and labor

Display- Blue tinted LCD display

Weight- 109 pounds

Dimensions- 38’’ L x 14’’ W x 25’’ H

Entry level, budget friendly and a headache

Let us see what you get with the Weslo Momentum 220 X Elliptical Trainer for less than $500. 4 personal trainer workouts, created by certified trainers and designed with heart health and weight loss in mind. A Dual grip Easy Pulse heart rate monitor, built into the handlebars for a safety and efficient workout.

The digital resistance has 10 levels that does give some flexibility to the intensity of the workout, and there is a large blue tinted LCD display that tracks speed, time, distance, calories burned, fat calories burned and your pulse. The 18’’ stride length is also good and appropriate for most users.

Now, here is what doesn’t come in the catalog and you can find with a quick Google search. This is a low cost machine, this type of elliptical tend to be noisy because the bolts and the frame in general isn’t built sturdy enough and everything will start to fall apart if you use it on a daily basis, as you should.

Gym fees are somewhat expensive and it is more comfortable to buy a machine and do your own exercises at home. But in the case of the Weslo Momentum 220X it may be less expensive to look for some 6 to 12 month deal in the gym near you than to buy this elliptical. If you really want to buy one, and still stay within a limited budget, then look somewhere else.

Weslo Momentum 220X at a Glance…

A price tag of less than $500 in an elliptical trainer most probably spells headaches. The Weslo Momentum 620 Elliptical Trainer is priced within this range and it is worth to be looked once over and look then for alternatives. It lacks quality and it has a short stride length, and the warranty is ridiculous.

It has some nice features like the expanded levels of resistance, 10 levels of digitally controlled Silent Magnetic Resistance, but they do break and do not work often times, and sooner than you would expect; customers complain that within a month the Weslo Momentum 620 will start to show signs of wear.

Weslo Momentum 620 Specifications

Resistance- Digital Silent Magnetic Resistance, 10 levels

Stride Length- 13’’

Programs- 2 Personal Trainer Workouts

Warranty- 90 days parts and labor

Display- Blue tinted LCD display

Weight- 96 pounds

Dimensions- 44’’ L x 21’’ W x 54.5’’ H

A shot in the dark

Alright, here are the reasons why you should stay away from the Weslo Momentum 620: 90 days warranty, short 13’’ stride length and lack of quality in the construction. The warranty is far too weak for any of these fitness equipments that to be efficient have to be used daily and if they can’t take a beating with poor quality construction, then 90 days isn’t anything.

90 days warranty also is a sign that the manufacturer doesn’t put much trust behind the product, only to guarantee that they will be responsible for it only for 90 days. The 13’’ stride length also doesn’t give out much positive signs, either the Weslo Momentum 620 was built to be used by a small person, or an average person will feel uncomfortable and probably break it after some daily exercises.

The resistance has 10 levels and can really get you going; there are customers that were surprised positively for the effective use of the Weslo Momentum 620, but they also noticed signs of wear in the machine that seemed a bit worrying, and the noise was a bit annoying.

For what you will pay for the Weslo Momentum 620, there are better options, not really for an elliptical trainer, because to get a good elliptical trainer it would cost you double or more of what the Weslo Momentum 620 costs, but other fitness equipments. In any way, it is best to think twice about the Momentum 620, and it will be a shot in the dark to find one really good.

Weslo Momentum 620 at a Glance…

Pros:

10 levels of resistance

Cons:

90 days warranty

Cheap and unreliable

13’’ stride length

Weslo isn’t recognized as a top of the class brand, and products like the Weslo Momentum 620 don’t really make it look better either. If you are thinking to buy one, there are better options, a bit more expensive, but more reliable. If you can’t buy those, then your money is better spent in a 6 months gym card.
