It seems like you can’t turn around these days without hearing about a new colon cleanser or detox diet.

These products and systems claim to remove built-up toxins from the body, promoting better overall health. Some involve fasting, while others involve herbal pills or strict liquid diets.

After numerous studies, there is still no scientific evidence that such approaches are beneficial.

According to Dr. Michael Picco, a gastroenterologist at the Mayo Clinic, detox diets and cleansers can actually have harmful side effects.

Despite the claims of companies who sell such products, the human body is actually very efficient at filtering toxins.

However, there are several simple, natural steps you can take to ease your body’s burden. Here are some proven ways to rejuvenate your body inside and out – no purchase necessary.

1. Exfoliate to renew your skin.

Exfoliation is a quick and easy way to remove dead skin, improve circulation, promote the growth of new skin cells, and give your complexion a natural glow.

It can be done with an exfoliating skin cleanser, a natural skin scrub made from brown sugar and olive oil, or even a gentle soap and a damp washrag.

Give yourself an overall glow by exfoliating your whole body. Purchase (or make) an exfoliating body wash, or purchase a long-handled body brush and scrub it over your body in circular motions before you bathe.

Both techniques will help clear your pores and get rid of dead skin cells.

2. Learn to breathe.

Do you ever catch yourself holding your breath? Do you tend to breathe in short, shallow bursts? If so, you can decrease your body’s stress level by practicing slow, rhythmic breathing.

This technique, called ‘conscious breathing’, helps you provide more oxygen to your body. This, in turn, helps your body carry out its tasks more efficiently.

Pick a quiet time, such as before you rise from bed in the morning. Take a slow, deep breath. You should see your stomach, not your chest, rise as you breathe in. Hold the breath for five seconds, then slowly exhale.

Repeat this for five minutes. Over time, you will learn to breathe more correctly throughout the day.

3. Practice daily stretching.

Stretching and yoga are beneficial to the mind and body. Not only do they relieve stress and keep the muscles limber, they promote blood flow and circulation.

The experts at WebMD recommend stretching all major muscle groups at least 2-3 times weekly. Stretch until you feel a gentle tug, never to the point of pain.

You can go online to find a good stretching routine or, if you have health concerns, ask your doctor to recommend one that’s right for you.

4. Sweat every day.

Much as we try to avoid it, sweating is actually great for your body. The best way to work up a cleansing sweat is through aerobic exercise.

As you sweat, your body releases stored fluid. Replace this fluid by drinking plenty of water.

After a week or so of daily sweating and hydration, you will begin to notice improvement in your skin tone, stress level, and sleep quality.

5. Reduce consumption of pain medication.

Our livers were designed to filter toxins from our blood, but there’s no need to make them work overtime. Be kind to your body by reducing the amount of over-the-counter painkillers you consume.

Researchers at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill found that acetaminophen (Tylenol) can cause liver damage even when used as directed.

The liver function of the test subjects was three times higher than normal after just four days of routine acetaminophen use.

6. Use fiber and water to promote digestive health.

Fiber and water are the healthiest colon cleansers available. They are also some of the most effective. Fiber is a difficult substance to break down. It makes your digestive system work hard, keeping it in good shape.

Water is essential for our bodily functions. Good hydration means better skin, better joints, and better filtration of toxins.

For optimal results, try to consume at least 30 grams of fiber daily, and at least six to eight glasses of water. When it comes to cleansing and detoxing your body, there’s really nothing better than water.

Yoga is not as scary as you may think it is, and the benefits of incorporating yoga into your life extend far beyond losing weight. Check out “Brilliant Yoga”:

Bread is a notorious diet-buster. The flavor, texture, and high carbohydrate content make it difficult to stop eating bread once you’ve started. In fact, many people undergo a chemical process while eating bread that triggers them to eat more and more.

It’s no wonder many diets advise us to stay away from bread, especially bread made from refined white flour.

Are you a bread addict? Here are some of the signs of bread addiction:

Strong cravings for bread products (including pastries, cakes, crackers and cookies)

A compulsion to eat bread products instead of other foods

The inability to stop eating bread products when full

A feeling of calmness and well-being after eating bread products

A drive to eat more bread products soon after finishing a meal

If you answered yes to those questions, you might have a bread addiction. The good news is that you’re not alone; it’s been estimated that up to 75% of all overweight people have an addiction to bread and other carbs.

Now that you’ve figured out whether or not you’re addicted to bread, let’s move on to the next question: Why is bread so addictive?

After all, isn’t it made from grains? Doesn’t bread contain healthy fiber and carbohydrates? How can a natural food cause addiction-level cravings in so many people?

Different people react to bread in different ways. Some individuals can happily eat a dinner roll or a slice of toast and go about their day without any repercussions.

Others find themselves obsessing over bread, sneaking carb-laden snacks to quell their cravings, and then eating more bread with their next meal.

For the latter group, bread is as addictive as a drug. When these people eat bread, their bodies release too much insulin, also known as the “hunger hormone”. Insulin stimulates the appetite, making it easy to overeat.

Over time, the person can develop insulin resistance. Insulin resistance occurs when a person’s body stops using insulin properly. This malfunction causes glucose, which normally fuels the internal organs, to stay trapped in the bloodstream. Type 2 diabetes can result.

High blood glucose levels also trigger hunger, which makes the person crave high-carb foods. Eating these foods causes more insulin to be released and ignored by the body, and blood glucose levels to spike higher. It’s an unhealthy cycle.

Add to this the psychological effect of eating bread, a popular “comfort food”, and it’s easy to see why bread is so addictive. Comfort foods are strongly associated with feelings of well-being. That’s why so many people eat high-carb foods, like bread, when they are feeling lonely, stressed out, sad, or bored.

Needless to say, the bread is only a temporary fix and does not address the person’s real underlying needs. People who self-medicate in this way are prone to overeating without finding true satisfaction from the food.

It’s important to note that whole-grain bread doesn’t seem to have the same addictive properties as ultra-refined white bread. The human body digests white bread very quickly. It does not differentiate between a slice of white bread and a slice of cake.

Both are broken down into sugar, causing blood glucose levels to spike. After this rapid digestion, blood glucose quickly plummets, resulting in hunger and additional carb cravings.

Breaking a bread addiction can be challenging, but the health benefits are worth it. Start small by giving yourself a two-week break from bread. You might find that your cravings disappear altogether after a week or so.

When you do eat bread, eat a small amount of multigrain or rye bread instead of white. Also, make sure to indulge in your favorite treats occasionally to keep yourself from feeling deprived. Then get back on your diet plan immediately to avoid cravings that might keep you off track.

Carbohydrates have become a controversial issue in weight loss circles. Some diet gurus advocate diets high in carbohydrates, while others caution dieters to avoid them like the plague.

Weight loss studies have shown that dieters tend to lose weight on both high-carb and low-carb diets. With so much conflicting information, how can you determine what role carbs should play in your personal weight loss plan?

Fortunately, carbohydrates are not an all or nothing proposition. It’s just a matter of choosing the right ones.

Carbs to Eat:

Beans and Nuts

Most Westernized cultures don’t eat enough fiber. The American Dietetic Association recommends 25-35 grams daily, but the American Heart Association estimates that the typical American eats only 15 grams of fiber each day.

This is unfortunate, because fiber has many health benefits. It helps regulate bowel movements, prevents blood sugar spikes and crashes, and keeps your digestive system in good shape.

You can easily increase your fiber intake by adding beans to your diet. Nuts are another good choice. The protein in these foods will help control your hunger, and the fiber will help promote efficient digestion.

Start by eating a half-cup of beans with your meal, and a handful of nuts as a between-meal snack.

Whole Grains

To avoid blood sugar peaks and valleys, switch from refined bread products to whole grains. Your body has to work longer and harder to digest whole grain foods and convert them into energy, thus you avoid the quick peaks and crashes you get from refined carbohydrates.

High-fiber whole grains also tend to satisfy your hunger for longer periods of time, helping you avoid between-meal cravings. Start your day with a cup of whole-grain oatmeal sprinkled with flax seeds for added fiber.

Fruits and Vegetables

Fruits and vegetables are some of the healthiest foods you can consume. Not only are they nutrient-dense, they also contain a significant amount of fiber and water.

In fact, the United States Department of Agriculture recommends 2-4 servings of fruit and 3-5 servings of vegetables each day. The Center for Disease Control also reports that diets rich in fruits and vegetables can help prevent diabetes, cancer, and other diseases.

Try to incorporate a variety of colorful vegetables into your diet. If you’re concerned about eating too much fructose (natural fruit sugar), stick to low-glycemic fruits such as berries, cherries, apricots, grapefruit, and apples.

Dairy Products

Dairy products are a good source of calcium and Vitamin D. Unfortunately, they can also contain a lot of fat and lactose (milk sugar). Control your fat intake by switching to 2% cheese and 1% milk. Low-fat yogurts and string cheese snacks are other tasty dairy choices.

If lactose upsets your stomach, or if you just want to consume less of it, look for lactose-free dairy products instead. They contain all the calcium and vitamins with less of the sugar.

Carbs to Avoid:

Sugar

Ah, the dreaded s-word. What’s so bad about sugar anyway? It contains empty calories, but it’s not so terrible when consumed in moderation.

Sadly, the modern Western diet approaches sugar with anything but moderation. Many processed foods are full of added sugar.

Even foods that don’t taste particularly sweet might contain sugar as a flavor enhancer. Sugar is also used to improve the flavor of many low-fat foods. With so much sugar in our diets, is it any wonder so many dieters suffer from unstable glucose and constant carb cravings?

When it comes to avoiding sugar, do the best you can. Save sweet treats for special occasions, and practice portion control. Don’t rely on artificial sweeteners, as these have been proven to increase sugar cravings in some individuals.

Also, remember to watch out for hidden sugar in your foods. On an ingredient list, sugar can masquerade as high fructose corn syrup, sugar alcohol, sucrose, dextrose, and lactose.

White Flour

Like sugar, simple carbohydrates like white flour are quickly processed by your body, leading to rapid rises and falls in your energy level. Worse, highly refined flour products have very little of the fiber or vitamins your body so desperately needs.

You can add more fiber and nutrition to your diet by trading white bread, rice, and pasta for their whole-grain counterparts.

Also, try eating yams, skins and all, instead of starchy baking potatoes. You will find that these healthier choices leave you more satisfied and less likely to keep eating past the point of satiation.

Fruit Juice

Fruit juices are high in sugar and calories, but low in fiber. It’s much healthier to eat the fruit than to drink only its juice. Plus, many juices are made from “fruit juice concentrate” – another misleading term for added sugar.

After you exercise, try rehydrating with a bottle of water and a piece of fruit. This will give your muscles the quick energy they need to recover, but with the added bonus of fiber.

Alcohol

Unlike food, alcohol is quickly absorbed by the body, passed through the liver, and distributed into the bloodstream. Spikes in blood glucose, and the corresponding crashes, are very common when alcohol is consumed.

Also, alcohol is full of calories that don’t benefit your body. According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, alcohol can also hinder your body’s ability to absorb nutrients, and can leave you dehydrated.

If you wish to drink alcohol at a special event, forget about sugary mixed drinks and wine coolers. Opt instead for a diet-friendly white wine spritzer, a lite beer, or a shot of rum in a Diet Coke. Be sure not to overindulge; alcohol is notorious for lowering inhibitions, and might make it harder to say no to unhealthy food choices.

You can stop dieting, start eating and start living with “The Diet Solution”, an all natural diet and nutrition program:

Personal responsibility plays a part, but you might be surprised by some of the everyday factors that can sabotage your weight loss efforts.

Reason 1: Finding the right diet can be tricky.

While the American Heart Association recommends a diet low in fat, many dieters find themselves missing the natural satiety that fats bring. Carbohydrates are another controversial issue.

Some dieters find that consuming a high amount of carbohydrates only makes them crave more. On the other hand, low-carb diets can leave some people feeling lethargic and even depressed.

Dr. Frank Sacks and associates from the Harvard School of Public Health recently concluded a study that compared four types of diets: high carb, high fat, high protein, and low fat. Their finding? According to Sacks, “No one of those diets are necessarily better than any other diet.”

The bottom line is this: Expending more calories than you consume will result in weight loss, regardless of which food groups you take those calories from. However, for optimal health, you should choose a balanced diet that you can comfortably live with for the rest of your life.

Reason 2: The media sends mixed messages about diet and health.

Women’s magazines are notorious for running stories about the latest trend in quick weight loss, just opposite a mouth-watering photo of a decadent triple-fudge cake. What message are they trying to send?

That’s not the only way the media sends mixed signals about our health. Have you ever been confused by the sheer number of weight loss studies in the news, many of which seem to come to contradictory conclusions?

If so, you’re not alone. With so much information, it’s nearly impossible to know which advice to follow. The problem with a lot of the studies you read about is that they are sensationalized by the media.

For example, a recent study suggested that some women over 50 might need to exercise more than 30 minutes a day in order to counteract their naturally slowing metabolisms. The headline for this study screamed, “Women Must Exercise One Hour a Day to Avoid Gaining Weight!” Not only was this headline demoralizing, it was inaccurate.

The best policy is to turn a deaf ear to the fads and sensationalism, and trust the advice you receive from your doctor and other trusted experts.

Reason 3: The food industry sets you up to fail.

With so many of us leading busy lifestyles, it’s no wonder we sometimes dine out for convenience. However, fast food chains and restaurants are dangerous territory for dieters.

Most fast food is high in fat and sodium while being relatively devoid of real nutrients. This results in lots of empty calories that leave our bodies malnourished even as our weight and blood pressure rise.

The unfortunate truth is that fats and sugars have a real impact on the chemistry of the human brain. These “comfort foods” can quickly become addictive.

Add flavor-enhancers like MSG to the mix, along with the largest portion sizes in human history, and you have a recipe for dietary disaster.

The obvious solution is to cook your own meals from whole foods, consuming as little processed food as possible. If you must eat out, choose smaller portion sizes. Some diners have half of their entrees boxed up before they even begin to eat.

Others order kids’ meals instead of the unhealthy adult portions offered by fast food chains. As an added benefit, kids’ meals often come with healthier side options like fresh fruit instead of french fries.

Reason 4: Well-meaning family and friends can do more harm than good.

Our loved ones mean well, but they do us no favors when they insist we have “just one more bite”. They hate to see us feeling deprived, so they enable us when we have the urge to eat unhealthy foods. Or they help us rationalize our poor choices by pointing out that we “deserve” a little treat; that “just this once won’t hurt”.

It’s hard to maintain your steadfastness in the face of such temptation. The best approach is to have an earnest talk with your loved ones. Let them know that you appreciate their concern, but that you need their support far more than you need a second helping of pie.

Schedule occasional “cheat days”, such as special occasions like birthdays, when you will permit yourself a little indulgence. That way, your family and friends will know when to offer you treats, and when to keep silent.

Reason 5: Making and breaking habits is hard work.

Finally, it takes time and effort to get into healthier habits. When you first start your weight loss journey, it might feel like an uphill battle as you contend with years of unhealthy behavior.

Start by making small changes. Instead of watching TV after dinner, record your favorite shows and go for a walk. Replace some high-fat foods with their lower-fat equivalents. Over time, you will get used to these changes and be able to make more without jeopardizing your weight loss effort.

Many diets fail because dieters make too many drastic changes too quickly, then decide they can’t live with the new program. Remember, these are sustained changes, not quick fixes. Feel free to ease into a healthier lifestyle so that it will last a lifetime.

Are you a junk food junkie? Maybe you’ve never met a dessert you didn’t love, or maybe you prefer salty potato chips and fries. Either way, if you overindulge, you’re loading your body with calories while depriving it of real nutrition.

Junk food is fine in moderation and on special occasions, but what about those cravings that hit you at the most inconvenient times – or, worse, the cravings that just never seem to go away at all?

Improbable as it seems, they can be tamed. Here are five proven strategies for ending junk food cravings.

Tip 1: Control blood sugar spikes and crashes.

When we stuff ourselves with highly refined carbohydrates, which most junk food tends to be, our blood sugar rapidly climbs. Then, because our bodies process these carbs so quickly, we experience a blood sugar crash.

Low blood sugar increases hunger, urging us to go out and do it all over again.

To avoid this cycle, eat small but frequent meals throughout the day. Never skip meals; recent studies have shown that dieters are more likely to binge on junk food if they haven’t eaten in several hours.

To really knock out cravings, combine a healthy fat with some protein and complex carbohydrates, like a tablespoon of peanut butter on whole grain bread. It will be more nutritious and more satisfying than the junk food your body is asking for.

Tip 2: Avoid artificial sweeteners and MSG.

When we eat sweet-tasting foods, our bodies produce insulin, whether those sweet-tasting foods actually contain sugar or a sugar substitute.

These findings were reported in the British Medical Journal in 2004, along with the result of eating foods sweetened with artificial sweeteners: deprived of the real sugar it was anticipating, the body experiences stronger sugar cravings at the next meal.

MSG (mono sodium glutamate) is a flavor-enhancer found in many prepared foods in grocery stores and at restaurants.

MSG has also been linked to incessant food cravings, including the infamous ‘Chinese restaurant syndrome’: you eat the food, then feel hungry an hour later.

(It should be noted that many Chinese restaurants now offer MSG-free foods.) Other foods, such as grated parmesan cheese and pre-made soups, contain MSG.

It’s almost impossible to cut artificial flavor enhancers out of your diet completely, but you can take steps to reduce the amount you consume.

Eat natural foods you prepare yourself. Don’t consume too many diet sodas. Instead, hydrate with water or decaffeinated tea.

If you crave something sweet, go ahead and have real sugar in moderation. If you give your body a little of what it wants, it’s less likely to demand more at the next meal.

Tip 3: Learn to identify emotional eating triggers.

Emotional eating is a real problem for millions of people. Some people use food as a way to find a sense of fulfillment. Others use it to soothe themselves when they are in pain. This can lead to frequent strong cravings for “comfort food”.

Kaiser Permanente just concluded a study on effective treatments for binge eating disorder. They found that food journals are a key element.

By recording what they ate and why, binge eaters were able to identify the events and thought patterns that led to overeating.

These findings can be seen in the April issue of the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology.

Tip 4: Cheat (but only a little.)

If you find yourself demoralized by a craving that won’t go away, give yourself permission to indulge a little. In the long-run, it’s better to have that half-cup of ice cream than to keep denying yourself and obsessing over it.

Simply adjust your plan to include a little more exercise that day, or take away extra calories from another meal to compensate.

Tip 5: Have a medical exam.

Constant cravings can be a sign of a more serious condition, such as diabetes. A quick and inexpensive fasting blood sugar test will let you know if your blood glucose level falls within the normal range.

Diabetes is highly manageable when caught early, so be sure to have a screening if you have diabetic relatives, or if you experience increased hunger, thirst, or urination.

Junk food cravings can be significantly reduced by addressing the underlying health issues that sometimes cause them.

The Smooth Agile DMT-X1 Elliptical Trainer has unique feature that is common now in all of Smooth elliptical, the Dynamic Motion Technology. What it does is that it allows you to choose in this case from 12 motion levels that let you exercise more muscles in your body than with the regular motion path of ellipticals.

If you add to this the 16 levels of resistance, you have a lot to choose from and a pack of features that will keep you busy and reaching for your limits for a long time. When Smooth released the Agile DMT it was an immediate success, but too expensive, so they released this version the DMT-X1 which is less expensive but with the same core features that made the original model so popular.

Smooth Agile DMT-X1 Elliptical Trainer Specifications

Dynamic Motion

Electromagnetic Brake System

Articulating, Shock-Absorbing, Foot Pedals

Back Light LCD Display

Patented Lite Touch Thumb Control

Heart Rate Control with Wireless Chest Strap

Built in Adjustable Fan

Nine Challenging Preset Programs

Transport Wheels

Warranty: Lifetime warranty on the frame & braking system, 5 years on all parts & electronics and 2 years in home labor

Foot Print: 74″ L x 32″ W x 63″ H

Weight: 223lbs

Max User Weight: 350lbs

The watered down version of the popular DMT-X1

The Smooth Agile DMT-X1 Elliptical Trainer is above all flexible in its wide range of exercise options that you have. It features the unique Dynamic Motion technology that allows you to choose from 12 different elliptical motions. It varies the stride and the elliptical motion to include in your exercise more muscles that usually you wouldn’t with a standard elliptical motion path.

Smooth says that by doing so you will be able to get more results in less time. It is all bit confusing if you go into the Biomechanics of it all, the best is to try it for yourself and you will really see that it works, as many users have done it and leave great reviews about this product.

Another good innovation are the Lite Touch Thumb controls that allow you to change the settings in the elliptical by infrared touch controls on the handlebars. This is great for not interrupting your exercise and allowing you to easily change the resistance or motion path and you exercise.

The only differences that you will find from the DMT-X to the original Agile DMT are the lower user weight capacity from 400 to 350 pounds, it weighs less from 390 to 223 pounds, meaning that it isn’t as stable as the DMT, and has less resistance levels. If you can go with that, then this is the best choice, less expensive and still with good quality and the entire core features of the popular DMT.

Smooth Agile DMT-X1 Elliptical Trainer at a Glance…

Pros:

Dynamic Motion

Smooth Agile DMT-X1 Elliptical Trainer

Great programs

Cons:

Not as good as the DMT for heavier users

The Smooth Agile DMT-X1 Elliptical Trainer has all the great features from the original DMT model it was built from. It is a great elliptical that will deliver a good workout with the added benefits of the Dynamic Motion technology. If you are not close to 300 pounds, this model is stable and sturdy, for heavier users we recommend the original DMT.

It is a risky choice to buy a reconditioned elliptical, with the Precor EFX 556i Elliptical you may be safe, there are no bad reviews from customers and the quality of the elliptical stands after the reconditioning,

<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0"><tr><td><img src="http://www.ellipticalreviewer.com/images/B0017O54TU/" /><td></tr><tr><td><td></tr></table>
The Smooth CE 2.1 Elliptical is the downgraded version of the CE 3.2, you take out some features and you get the later. Currently it isn’t anymore available through Smooth but you can find it online or as a used product for sale. As long as it is in good shape and the price has gotten a good cut, it is a good choice.

It is an entry level model, has a good value for the quality you get and a reasonable pack of features. It combines a heavy duty flywheel with the electromagnetic braking system to deliver a smooth and quiet motion as you exercise. One amazing thing is that when you stop the machine the flywheel will gradually stop.

Smooth CE 2.1 Elliptical Specifications

Ergonomic, Pivoting Foot Pedal

Electromagnetic Braking System

Heavy Gauge Oval Steel Frame

Nine Challenging Preset Programs

Handgrip Pulse Sensors

16 Resistance Levels

LCD Display

Max User Weight: 300 pounds

Warranty: Lifetime frame, 2 years parts including electronics, 1 year service

Good entry level elliptical, unfortunately discontinued

The Smooth CE 2.1 Elliptical has pivotal foot pedals, if you like elliptical then you sure like the fact that they have a low impact exercise, the pivotal foot pedals allow you to decrease even more the impact on your joints by allowing your feet to always be aligned with the pedals.

It is a bit heavy with 175 pounds, but that is also why it is so stable and solid, it does not move around when you exercise, even when you speed up. It comes with an LCD display, not the best but does its job. You will also have 9 programs to choose from, including heart rate control programs, endurance and interval training.

This elliptical also has the innovative idea from Smooth to place the built in heart rate monitors in the moveable arms, meaning that you do not have to take your hands from them to get any heart rate values as you exercise. If you don’t like to wear heart rate wireless straps this is also a plus for you.

Overall it is a good elliptical for an entry level machine; too bad it has been discontinued by Smooth. It can still be found for sale, but the new models have outrun the Smooth CE 2.1 Elliptical and it is best to go with the new models if the price and quality of the Smooth CE 2.1 Elliptical that you find isn’t that good

Pros:

Cons:

Discontinued by Smooth

Too bad the Smooth CE 2.1 Elliptical got discontinued by Smooth. As an entry level elliptical it had much going on for it, the new models are better though. If you find one of these on sale, check if the price is good and it is in good conditions, it is a good choice for the right price. If not, just go with the new models from Smooth, you may have to pay a bit more, but better safe than sorry.
It is a center drive designed elliptical that in so allows it to need only as much as half of the space of another elliptical trainer.

You also get a great pack of features that include: iFit workouts, iPod Dock, High Resolution Display and 20 levels of digitally controlled resistance. For the budget price you pay for all of this and the quality of it all it is a bargain that you have to consider if you are planning to buy an elliptical trainer.

Center Drive Elliptical Trainer

The ProForm Crosswalk 8.0 Elliptical catches your eyes because of the centre drive design, most elliptical trainers either are front or rear drive designed. But this doesn’t mean that it is less stable or loses performance quality, it only means that it takes less space to be used and keeps all the benefits of the other designs.

The Magnetic Resistance is also another strong point in this elliptical, it is smooth and virtually silent. And you can also add the advantage that with a center drive elliptical, and especially for women with average height or below, the foot pedals are closer together than in other models of elliptical, meaning that it is more comfortable for you. The same cannot be said for men that are above average in height, but for most users it is comfortable.

For the price you pay, the center drive design, the features you get and the quality, the ProForm Crosswalk 8.0 Elliptical Trainer is an elliptical trainer that should be on anybody’s list of preferences. It is comfortable, stable, affordable and with quality, users have nothing but great reviews about this model.

The ProForm Crosswalk 8.0 Elliptical is a great elliptical trainer. The unusual center drive design allows it to be compact and comfortable, while keeping it stable and all the quality of other models. What impresses is the price tag is kept at affordable price range, for all that you get and the quality of it all, if you do not think at least of buying this elliptical within this price range, you are missing a great bargain.
The Smooth CE 3.7 Elliptical is a great elliptical trainer from Smooth, among others that this company has been producing. It has quality and it is reasonably priced. The pack of features is standard and there isn’t really something that will make you go wow, but it delivers a good workout. Effective, fun and intense.

The highlights from this elliptical include the Dynamic Motion technology; this allows you to get more results with less time exercising. It gives you more options with 3 motion levels and 16 levels of resistance, it provides a wide range of options to challenge you and keep your fitness levels up.

Smooth CE 3.7 Elliptical Specifications

Max User Weight: 325lbs

Fun and intense workouts

The Smooth CE 3.7 Elliptical has some of the best programs that you can choose from to make you fit in no time. It keeps you going within the desirable speed and tells you to speed up or slow down. The console also can store personal information of your workouts within 9 built in slots, so that you can always keep track of your progress.

It is a brand new model that has been introduced by Smooth for 2010, so you can be sure to get the latest in technology and better materials than older models. Even so, besides the Dynamic Motion, there isn’t anything else that cannot be found in other elliptical and even cheaper ones.

You will see one feature that can surprise you though, the heart rate monitors are built in moveable handlebars, meaning that unlike other elliptical that you have to somehow stop working out your upper body to place your hands in the stationary bars, in this case you can keep working out and make the readings from the moving handle bars.

In the end this model from Smooth is just an attempt from Smooth to bring their popular feature, the Dynamic Motion technology into price ranges that are more affordable. If you believe that the dynamic Motion will work for you and you like it, then the Smooth CE 3.7 Elliptical is a good option for you.

The Proform iSeries 785 F Elliptical can only be considered for two things: the power incline and the low price. There are some quality issues with this elliptical that even the fact that it has a power incline, a feature that is mostly associated with more expensive models, can’t be covered or forgotten.

Overall it is an elliptical from which you should keep your money away from. Unless you are in a really tight budget and without any choices then this may be your best choice, but there are better elliptical with much better pack of features for a little bit more than what you pay for this one.

Proform iSeries 785 F Elliptical Specifications

Intensity Ramp

Upper-Body Workout Arms

Max User Weight: 275 pounds

Warranty: Lifetime frame; 7 years brake, 1 year parts & labor

Not a good choice

The Proform iSeries 785 F Elliptical has some attractive features, the Power Intensity Ramp combined with the Personal Trainer Workouts and the Weight Loss Workouts can give you enough challenges to keep you busy and motivated for a long time. It is also effective and can deliver results with time and daily usage.

But this is where the good parts end. If you go over most of the reviews that customers leave about this elliptical in the internet you will find that with time it becomes very noisy, some parts break off easily and the elliptical becomes unstable as you ride on it. It looks good, but it isn’t that good under the hood.

The warranty isn’t also that impressive, meaning that within months, or maybe weeks, of your date of purchase and you have enjoyed your elliptical trainer, it will start to show its true face and you will have quality issues. If you are lucky maybe the warranty will cover it. But, why take the chance when there so many other choices as good as this model? Why not save a few hundred dollars and buy a good elliptical trainer.

The Proform iSeries 785 F Elliptical isn’t recommended by users and many trainers. It is noisy and unreliable, not worth the little money you pay for it. It is not a good choice and it is prone to have problems with wear and tear parts. Save your money and buy some other good elliptical.
The Smooth CE 3.2 Elliptical is a better than average elliptical that can deliver a pretty good workout. It is also a medium price range elliptical that will not break that easily as most do. It has a good pack of features, good design and solid construction. It would be a good choice if there wasn’t already out there an upgrade called Smooth CE 3.6 Elliptical.

So, the Smooth CE 3.2 Elliptical may seem outdate compared to the new 2010 model released by Smooth, but if you get your hands in any of these models, even with the differences between brothers, you will get a good elliptical to workout with.

Discontinued and out of stock

Yes, the Smooth CE 3.2 Elliptical has been discontinued by Smooth for 2010, and they say to be out of stock for this product. So if you ever going to find one it will on retail or a used one. If so, better to double check on the quality of the product and if there is anything wrong with it, and also if there are any warranties that can apply for you.

The CE 3.2 was itself an improvement from another model, the CE 2.1. It includes a wireless heart rate control, a large LED screen and tried to improve on the quality of the elliptical reaching for commercial grade quality.

It has a nice, quiet and smooth operation. There some bad points, for a home elliptical, it has a big footprint and the flywheel’s only 20 pounds. Meaning that this elliptical isn’t as good as other that are more fitting for home usage, not unless you have space, then you won’t have any issues with this model.

The Proform 20.0 CrossTrainer is filled with good features, sold at an affordable price and with some surprises. The surprise is the personal trainer program and two video games. The personal trainer program is nice to have; it actually talks back to you as you exercise to keep you within the programs metrics. The video games, it’s more of a personal thing, either you like it or hate it.

If you look at these bells and whistles, and you are really looking for a good elliptical trainer, these are not the features that will make you sign a check. Is this elliptical trainer any good, or will it break every week of the year?

Proform 20.0 CrossTrainer Review Specifications

Warranty: 1 year parts and labor

Playground time

The Proform 20.0 CrossTrainer looks like it was built for someone who likes to play more than taking its fitness seriously. It has the GameFit Interactive Fitness Games, which can be attractive if you like them and that will motivate you to workout. The games are not really the best there is, Calorie Invaders and Fatblocker, but can be entertaining. But, why not to play good games with a games console and leave the elliptical for serious workout time?

One thing that is good is the Interactive Audio CrossTrainer, it is like having a personal trainer to guide you through your workout sessions and keep in track with your stats for better results. At first it is good and works out fine, but it can also be annoying after a few weeks. If you like to drive with your GPS on, then we guess you will also like this feature.

Everything else is standard for the price range, and has good quality. If this elliptical trainer was to be stripped off the two previously mentioned features it would just like another great Proform elliptical. Overall it is all about the games and the personal trainer program, to buy this elliptical is much of a personal choice either you like it or not.

Video Games

Front drive

The Proform 20.0 CrossTrainer isn’t really that great just for the surprising features. Even for the price you pay, you’d be better off with some real down to earth elliptical trainers. If you like the video games then it may be your thing, if not it is better to save your money and look for something else for the same price.

The ProForm 10.0 ZE Elliptical is the new 2010 rear drive elliptical model. You can count with an adjustable stride length, with 3 choices: 13’’, 15’’ and 18’’. This feature allows you to target different muscles as you workout, plus it gives users with different heights better comfort. It is very efficient with 12 digital resistance levels, to burn more calories as you increase the intensity of your workout.

It is an entry level elliptical, price target in which Proform feels so comfortable. It is loaded with great features and it is solid and sturdy, smooth and quiet. The warranty isn’t that great and the 275 pound maximum weight for users isn’t that great either. But, for the price you pay, can’t ask for much more.

ProForm 10.0 ZE Elliptical Specifications

Great entry level elliptical trainer

The ProForm 10.0 ZE Elliptical is a good choice if you are not expecting too much from it. If you are looking for an elliptical with which you can work out seriously, you’d better look somewhere else, this elliptical is great if you like power walking or light jogging, above that you may test the limits of the machine.

Other than that everything else put this elliptical on the top of its price range. It has a space saver design that allows it to be folded, it is compatible with iFit technology, the large LCD display has all the info that you need to keep your stats controlled.

You can’t find much information yet about this elliptical, it is a brand new model for 2010, but the hype is out there, specially about its adjustable stride with 3 lengths to choose from: 13”, 15”, and 18”. And also the 12 levels of resistance than combined with the resistance greatly increase the benefits of you time working out with this elliptical.

Plus all the nice things that you will love, like the fact that it can be folded to be stored away after you have used it, the music port for iPod’s with the sound system Intermix Acoustics. It is perfect for home usage.

The Reebok RL 900 Elliptical has a good construction and an attractive pack of features. It is smooth and quiet, but you can expect some headaches to assemble it. It is a great choice considering all the features that it has, plus the fact that it is a Reebok product, for an affordable price.

You won’t see much marketing effort for these products, if you ever hear of them it is because people have been talking about them because they are good. If you do over the internet and look for reviews on the Reebok RL 900 Elliptical you will see lots of satisfied customers raving about their best buy.

Reebok RL 900 Elliptical Specifications

Quick Incline

Quick Resistance

iFit Compatible

Workout Fans

EKG™ Grip Heart Rate Monitor

350 lb User Weight Capacity

Dimensions: 76” x 68” x 24”

Weight: 270 pounds

Among the best for its price range

One of the things that is amazing about the Reebok RL 900 Elliptical is the incline ramp, this feature will allow you to increase the difficulty of your exercise while increasing the amount of calories that you burn with the added effort. You can go from 10% to 30% incline, it will feel like climbing a mountain.

It is a solid elliptical, weighs 270 pounds, which isn’t too much for an elliptical, making it steady and sturdy to hold user with 350 pounds. At least that is what Reebok says, but if you are over the 300 pounds mark you will see that the RL 900 starts to feel your weight and shake. Even so, it is much better than most elliptical within this price range.

Is has 12 programs, a large monitor, built in fans, easy access quick incline and resistance controls, built-in iFIT technology and heart rate pulse grip handles. The features are great and very well built, it looks like they were not cutting corners in quality when they were building this elliptical.

But it isn’t easy to put all of this together. One thing that customers have complained is about the assembly of the Reebok RL 900 Elliptical, it is a bit hard and complicated, plus you will need two people to do it and 2 to 3 hours of work.

Reebok RL 900 Elliptical at a Glance…

Pros:

Affordable

Good quality construction

Great pack of features

Quick Incline

Cons:

Hard to assemble

The Reebok RL 900 Elliptical is an affordable elliptical that brings all the quality from high end elliptical and the pack of features. Even if it is hard to assemble, once you have it ready to use it will feel like fitness heaven. The incline feature is the heart of this elliptical, only found in more expensive models, to have it in the RL900 is a great bargain.

<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0"><tr><td><img src="http://www.ellipticalreviewer.com/images/B0018YGUGA/" /><td></tr><tr><td><td></tr></table>
The Life Fitness 9500hr Elliptical Trainer is usually found as remanufactured, it isn’t the newest model from the Life Fitness catalog, but it still has quality and delivers good performances to keep on being remanufactured from health clubs into private homes, it doesn’t lose any of the quality of commercial use, but it is much cheaper and polished for home usage.

The 9500hr has had some complaints from customers about the rear drive and the heart rate sensors on the handlebars, these problems are usually due to the pounding they get to endure while on health clubs. With some fine tuning they are back to shape and ready to roll.

Life Fitness 9500hr Elliptical Trainer Specifications

20 Levels of Resistance

Built in Heart Rate Monitor in Handlegrips

18’’ Stride Length

9 Pre Programmed Courses

Reading Rack and Accessory Tray

Rear Wheels For Easy Mobility

Maximum User Weight: 350 lbs

Dimensions: 82’’ x 27’’ x 62’’

Commercial Quality Affordable Elliptical

The Life Fitness 9500hr Elliptical Trainer is a health club machine, it wasn’t built to be used in your home, so the only units that you can find are remanufactured ones that are replaced with newer models in health clubs and get polished, cleaned and most parts replaced so that they can be sold to home users at affordable prices.

One thing that you should be aware of is that this elliptical is heavy, it has its upside points like the stability and it can endure long periods of workouts, but it is hard to move. It has rear wheels that help to move it around, and it doesn’t need to be plugged to any electrical outlet, but do not expect that you can move it from room to room for storage.

Overall it has the quality of a commercial grade elliptical, it is always a bit of a game of luck to buy a remanufactured elliptical, but it is a good buy considering the quality for the reduced price. Maybe for the price you pay you can find some really good brand new elliptical that will fit better in your home.

Cons:

Warranty

The Life Fitness 9500hr Elliptical Trainer is a remanufactured commercial grade elliptical. It still has all the quality but is outdated, for the same price there are other home elliptical trainers that have great features and are brand new. It is also better to look for a retailer that has a good warranty on these machines, and that isn’t easy to find on any remanufactured units of elliptical trainers.

<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0"><tr><td><img src="http://www.ellipticalreviewer.com/images/B00275R2IY/" /><td></tr><tr><td><td></tr></table>
The Schwinn 420 Elliptical Trainer has an affordable price tag, but even so it does not compromise with the quality of the materials or the pack of features that it offers. It may not be the best out from Schwinn catalog, but it has the same quality that this brand puts in all their elliptical.

It is an elliptical that will last long, even with energetic users that will daily use this elliptical, the construction is sturdy and solid. It also provides a stable and smooth performance. It can hold users with up to 300 pounds. If you can’t buy a better Schwinn, then this is a good choice within its price range.

Schwinn 420 Elliptical Trainer Specifications

Resistance Levels: 16

Resistance System: Eddy current brake resistance

Stride Length: Fixed, 18″

Number of Workouts: 12

Display Type: LCD

Warranty: Frame: 5 years, Parts: 1 year, Electronics: 1 year, Wear Parts: 90 days

Dimensions	: 62″L x 26″W x 71″H

Weight: 154 lbs

Max. User Weight: 300 lbs

Affordable and solid rock

The Schwinn 420 Elliptical Trainer surprises the most because it is priced below the $1.000 mark, meaning that you would expect a doubtful quality elliptical or at least not very strong, but the 420 is strong and it has good quality for the price you pay for it. There are some things missing from other models of Schwinn like the V-Stride technology, but even so, it is a great elliptical for the price.

That is what surprises users of this elliptical, the fact that it is stable when being used, it is strong enough to hold 300 pound users and it has quality to last long years. A red flag may be raised concerning the 90 days warranty on the wear and labor; usually it means that the manufacturer is trying to hold there something. Not in this case, maybe Schwinn is being over cautious or something.

One other thing that you should really pay attention on this elliptical, and not for the best reasons, is the resistance. Even though it is good enough for experienced elliptical users, for beginners and people who are out of shape, even the first level may seem a bit difficult to overcome. Several users have noticed this difficulty, so pay attention and try it before you buy it.

Schwinn 420 Elliptical Trainer at a Glance…

Pros:

Small footprint

Affordable

Solid and sturdy

Good pack of features

Cons:

First level of resistance a bit hard to surpass

The Schwinn 420 Elliptical Trainer overall it is a good product, not the best from Schwinn, but good enough to impress within its price range. It has a reasonable pack of features, lacks some of the most impressive ones of more expensive models, but has the basic ones to make it a good buy for the price you, plus a good quality and a solid elliptical.
Sole has in its catalog different ellipticals that go from the E25 to the E95, each one improvement of the other and with added features and bigger price tags. The Sole E35 Elliptical is the improved version of the E25 and just a few hundred dollars more expensive than the E25. Is it worth it or not? The E25 is a great choice and the E35 a better one.

Look at the following features: Stationary handle bars with built-in pulse sensors for monitoring your heart rate. Oversize foot pedals for a comfortable workout. Easy to use electronic console with blue backlight LCD display. Includes a built-in cooling fan and water bottle holder. The console also has built in speakers which allow you to hook up any MP3 player, iPod, etc.

A best buy

The Sole E35 Elliptical is a great elliptical, it has everything that you need for a good workout and the construction is solid. The pack of features doesn’t go overboard with bells and whistles, but still has all the essentials. The 20’’ stride length accommodates any user with comfort even at high speeds.

It has a great smooth and silent ride. Even with the 30 pound flywheel that delivers a high quality motion and resistance, the E35 is sturdy and steady. You can adjust the ramp from 15 to 40 degrees, burning out your lower body muscles to perfection.

The foot pedals are designed with a 2 degree inward slope that reduces impact on ankles and knees. The footbeds are also adjustable for customized comfort. The 4 real wheels ride on heavy duty rails, delivering a smooth and stable feel as you exercise, while reducing movements of the pedals from side to side, which is a feature that usually is only found in more expensive models.

The pack of features of the Sole E35 is good and impressive for an elliptical at this price range. Much better than the E25, and probably good enough to make the other models shy away due to their expensive price tags and bells and whistles.

It has all the quality and durability of any other more expensive models and comes with a great pack of features that has everything that you it needs to deliver a great performance.

It has 16 levels of magnetic resistance combined with 12 preset programs, which will allow you to reach your fitness limits. The magnetic resistance is also a great plus to this elliptical, it is smooth and very quiet, perfect to use in your home.

Affordable but Not Cheap

On the Lifecore LC3000 Elliptical Trainer there is two main strengths: the durability and the magnetic resistance. You’d expect less from an elliptical that is like a downgrade from other expensive models, that there would be some corners cut and a drop in quality from the LC3000 bigger brothers, but this one holds its ground.

To start we point the great sealed bearings in all pivot points, which is a sign of excellence in any elliptical. The whole construction is welded, which is another sign that quality and durability are pluses in this machine. And the overall look of the elliptical is solid and when you use it, the ride is stable.

Going into the resistance, it has 16 levels that challenge from beginners to experienced elliptical enthusiasts. Not only it is great for you exercise, it also is smooth and quiet, less impact and less noise. For a front drive elliptical the performance of this model is impressive.

Lifecore is so confident about their LC3000 that they are not afraid to sell it to health clubs, allowing these machines to get pounded over and over again and resist valiantly, if they can do this in a health club, you can imagine that they will last forever in your house.

Schwinn doesn’t disappoint with their elliptical, and if the other models are great, even if some have some drawbacks. The Schwinn 460 Variable Stride Elliptical is the high end model within Schwinn catalog and has the quality that Schwinn is so proud of and all the features that you can desire in an elliptical like this.

Maybe the most hyped feature about this elliptical is the V-Stride Technology that allows users to change the stride length from 2’’ to 28’’, meaning that you can exercise in this elliptical as if you are running or just walking. The best benefit is that by doing this the elliptical allows you to incorporate different muscles in your exercise, providing a more effective workout.

Schwinn 460 Variable Stride Elliptical Specifications

The Best among the Best

The heart of the Schwinn 460 Variable Stride Elliptical is the Schwinn V-Stride Technology, with which you can change the stride from only 2’’ to 28’’. This way you can target different muscles as you exercise. With the short length strides you can target calves and quads, medium length and you are targeting thighs and glutes, take it to long strides and work all muscles.

The tricky thing about this technology is that it changes the length of the stride not because you want to, but automatically once you start to workout harder and push the handlebars. Leading to understand how some reviews of this product found it very hard to reach the 26’’ stride length, and even less the maximum of 28’’.

Another thing that you should pay attention in this elliptical feature is the maximum user weight, it is set at 300 pounds. The machine weighs 210 pounds and some users have complained that for heavyweight users the 460 loses some stability. If you are closer to 300 pounds is better to try it out first before buying it, and try it at high speeds just to see how it holds.

Other than this, this elliptical is pretty much standard for the price range. The features that you have here are mostly the same as compared to other models for the same price. You get 16 programs, a flywheel of 25 pounds for a smooth and quiet exercise and overall a good elliptical that is worth the Schwinn brand.

Schwinn 460 Variable Stride Elliptical at a Glance…

Pros:

V-Stride Technology

Articulating Foot Pedals

Smooth and quiet

Cons:

Not that stable for heavyweight users

Overall the Schwinn 460 Variable Stride Elliptical stands above the rest of the Schwinn models. It is a great elliptical that will deliver what it promises. The fact that the stride length keeps on changing as you exercise may take some time to adapt, but once you are over that learning curve you can enjoy your exercise and get those extra benefits from the V-Stride technology.
The Schwinn 438 Elliptical has been discontinued by Schwinn, you can still find them for sale but only for retailers and as a used product. For the price you may end up paying for this old model, better to look over the new models from Schwinn. It is a good model priced at middle range, it is reliable and with good options, if you find it in good state.

For the price you used to pay for a brand new Schwinn 438 Elliptical, you would get a close to commercial grade quality elliptical, sturdy and solid, delivering a good performance while remaining smooth for years. It was one of the best choices within its price range.

Schwinn 438 Elliptical Specifications

Resistance Type: Magnetic

Resistance Levels: 8

18” stride

LCD display console with LED prompts

User Weight Capacity: 275 pounds

Warranty: 15 year Frame, 2 years parts, 1 year electronics, 6 month labor

Discontinued Model

The Schwinn 438 Elliptical has been discontinued but may be still dealing cards on the used items section of many online stores and retailers. One of the most hyped features of this elliptical is the choice of 24 built in programs, which is a lot to choose from. Not only will this elliptical deliver you good programs to keep you busy, but it will also make you fit in no time.

The problem that most users point out on this elliptical is the limited range of resistance levels. Even if the resistance works good and it is smooth and quiet, the fact that it only has 8 levels isn’t that pleasing, especially if you have 24 workout programs to choose from that are then limited by 8 resistance levels.

When it comes to comfort this model has articulating foot plates that release pressure from the ball on the foot and distribute the same pressure throughout the whole plant of your feet as you exercise, avoiding your feet to become numb as it is common when you exercise for long hours. And you can also count on adjustable handlebars for added comfort.

Cons:

Discontinued

Limited to 8 resistance levels

Too bad the Schwinn 438 Elliptical has been discontinued. It was great model prices at middle range among elliptical and with a quality that was close to commercial grade. It had great features and delivered a solid performance that many user fell in love for. If you find one, in good state and for a just price it still is a good choice.
Comments of users point out that the elliptical is noisy, uncomfortable and below the 18’’ strides length it is uncomfortable. And if you look at the 1 year warranty for everything from frame to motor, it raises some red flags immediately for this price range.

Yes, it has the advantage that it can be folded up and it is a budget elliptical that doesn’t crash your family budget, but the quality is shaky and not recommended if you are not really tight on your money.

NordicTrack SpaceSaver Elliptical Specifications

Budget Elliptical Trainer

The NordicTrack SpaceSaver Elliptical has one feature that catches the attention of everyone, the adjustable stride with three options of 12’’, 15’’ and 18’’. Adjustable strides are great, but this one doesn’t fit everybody’s needs. It is good for anyone below 5’6’’, if you are taller than this, you will be in trouble if you try anything lower than an 18’’ stride.

That is why most adjustable strides features give options above the 18’’ and not as low as 12’’, it is just uncomfortable for most people to go that low. It is good for women that usually have an average height below men. Maybe that is the target market for this elliptical.

The fact that it can be folded is another plus for this elliptical, but it comes with minuses. The construction of the elliptical with this feature doesn’t make it solid. Customers complain that it actually moves side to side when in speedier exercises.

Other pluses are: the 10 built in programs, the display and the built in fan. For what you pay you can’t expect much more than this. For a budget elliptical it is a good choice, but it has many quality flaws and there are other options on the market that may be better than this one for you.

Weak overall quality

The NordicTrack SpaceSaver Elliptical is a good elliptical if you do not expect much from it and you can’t buy something better than this. The thing is that probably for the same money you can find another elliptical that is better than this if you look better into other brands catalogs and options. Stay away and look somewhere else for a well built elliptical.
Smooth came up with a 5 star elliptical that was the DMT, but the price tag on that model was astronomical, but many people wanted that model for its features, if the price wasn’t really that big.

And this is why the DMT X1 and the DMT X2 were born, so that the highly acclaimed DMT could be afforded at lower prices but with the same pack of features. The Smooth Agile DMT-X2 Elliptical Trainer even if it is priced lower than the DMT, it has the same quality and the great and innovative features of the original model.
Intense and fun workouts

The Smooth Agile DMT-X2 Elliptical Trainer, as well as the Agile models from Smooth, have a core feature that makes them excellent, the Dynamic Motion Technology. What it does is to provide you with 12 different elliptical motions, meaning that these motions can vary in stride and motion path to range more muscles in your legs, therefore burning more calories.

Another good innovation is the Lite Touch Thumb controls that allow you to change the settings in the elliptical by infrared touch controls on the handlebars. This is great for not interrupting your exercise and allowing you to easily change the resistance or motion path and you exercise.

Another feature much hyped on reviews is the iPod docking with speakers. Some reviews say that the sound isn’t that good, but for most people the sound is good enough and clear enough for them to enjoy the exercise while listening to their favorite tunes.

It also has other great features: Wireless Heart Rate Control for added comfort while keeping track of your heart beat; 9 User Profiles for Multiple Users, keep track of your goals and progress, as well as your family and friends; 3-Speed Workout Fan Built Into the Console, may not seem like much, but wait for those Summer months and this feature is heaven sent.

More Expensive than the DMT X1

The DMT X1 is less expensive than the Smooth Agile DMT-X2 Elliptical Trainer, and the only difference is the iPod docking and the better display, meaning that the core features are all there in both models. If the iPod and the display don’t make much difference for you, go with the DMT X1.

The first thing that I noticed on the Life Fitness X1 elliptical is the stride length. While most elliptical have a 19” stride length, this machine has 20”. That makes the machine more user-friendly and guarantees a much smoother ride. Experts would agree when I say that the longer the stride length would equate to a more elliptical pattern resulting to a smoother action as well as proven to be kinder to your joints. Even at full speed, this machine is easier to use because of the long stride. Longer stride would also mean that it is suitable for taller individuals but in this case, it is perfect no matter what height you have.

If your goal is to have a total body workout then the X1 may stop you from that search as it is specially designed to fulfill that need. The best part is it makes burning calories easier because of the elliptical action of the pedals together with the shape and the position of the handles that was designed to synchronize the upper and lower body movement. With this machine, you don’t have to spend on other exercise machines as it already targets a whole body work out.

Life Fitness is famous for smooth and natural performance and this is exactly what you will get with the X1 elliptical cross trainer. The machine carries the signature Link6 drive system of Life Fitness. That only means that you can expect to have a stride that feels as comfortable and good as walking. This is great for low-impact workouts but then again with the wide variety of workout program on this machine, your workout can be as high impact and as rigorous as you want it to be. It also has heart monitoring features that uses the Lifepulse digital hand sensors or you can also chose to use the Polar wireless chest trap.

No matter what shape and body size you have, you can expect the Life Fitness X1 Elliptical Cross-Trainer to be accommodating. This is because of its oversized pedals that are optimally spaced to lessen the lateral hip shifting that can cause a stress on the lower back. Since it can accommodate varying body size and shape, another great feature is the ability to save and create custom workouts for different users. Plus it comes equipped with an Ergogrip that will work to your advantage.

The cons on this machine is it’s so big and heavy that moving it around can be a challenge. It would require two individuals just to move it. And the price would make you think twice especially if you will not be using the elliptical on a regular basis.

Life Fitness X1 Elliptical at a glance…

Pros:

User-friendly

Smooth and natural performance

Gives total body workout

Wide variety of work out program

Accommodating to all sizes and body shapes

Ability to save different profiles for each user

Ergogrip

Cons:

Hard to store and can’t be moved around easily

Price

Bulky machine

If you are serious about getting a total body work out and is really a big fan of elliptical then the X1 elliptical would be considered as good buy for you. On the other hand, if you are not a regular user of elliptical, then you are better off purchasing a cheaper machine.

The only point that draws some negative comments is the 90 days warranty on parts and service that isn’t really good for the quality of this elliptical.

Another thing is that this elliptical even though it is solid and built to last long years it isn’t really into the commercial grade of elliptical; it is to be considered a budget elliptical within the price range that it falls. It has a good construction, backed by a good pack of features and it is rated consistently a best buy by customers.

NordicTrack Commercial 1300 Elliptical Specifications

Good quality in a bargain

The NordicTrack Commercial 1300 Elliptical is a great home elliptical, the name commercial is only a name that the manufacturer puts on it, do not expect a commercial performance from this elliptical. Commercial elliptical are supposed to be built to live inside a health club and withstand the pounding of lots of users 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and live through it, this elliptical has quality but not this commercial grade of quality.

One innovation that users seem to enjoy on this elliptical is the Quick Target Toning, what it does is that with the touch of a button you can choose which muscle group you want to work and the elliptical will automatically adjust incline and resistance to target those muscles.

All the features on this elliptical are what you should look for and desire in a machine like this, the power incline, 18’’ stride length, stable and sturdy, solid and with a max user capacity of 350 pounds, heavy duty steel frame, balanced flywheel and traction control pedals. For all that you get, the price you pay is a bargain.

We only point out the same as everyone else points as a weakness in this elliptical trainer, the 90 days warranty doesn’t mirror the quality of the elliptical and its components, it is as if the manufacturer itself doesn’t trust such a great product.

NordicTrack Commercial 1300 Elliptical at a Glance…

Pros:

Quick Target Toning

Cons:

Weak Warranty on Parts and Service

The NordicTrack Commercial 1300 Elliptical is without shadow of a doubt a bargain within its price range, even with the weak warranty that is no reason to raise any red flags. Users are happy with this elliptical and it seems to be going strong so far, there is nothing that you can ask more from an elliptical like this.

If you are on a budget, the Ironman 250e might be the solution for your home work out needs. Many consumers are checking out this product because many are being drawn by the price and its features. Although some elliptical experts don’t highly recommend this product, many consumers who use this machine fell in love with it.

Ironman 250e Product Specification:

Upper body workout

12 pre-set programs

1 pulse rate recovery program

1 heart rate program

2 panel LCD consol display

Rear flywheel

Reverse motion

Magnetic brake system

14” stride

16 resistance levels (programmable)

Warranty: Frame lifetime, 1 yr. parts

The main focus of the features of the Ironman 250e is flexibility on your workout. If you are the type of person who gets bored easily on the workout routine then checking out this machine is worth your time. It is also affordable as the price is under a thousand dollars and when it is on sale, it can even go below 500 dollars. It is a solid elliptical with a lot of programs that you can choose eliminating the boredom factor on a machine.

This machine is not highly recommended by experts because of its 14” stride. It’s too short of a stride for an elliptical. If you are above 6 feet tall then this machine is not for you but if you are a short user, then this machine is great buy considering its price .The weight capacity of this machine is 300 lbs but in reality 250 is the ideal weight capacity for it. If you’re more than 250 pounds and above 6 feet tall then don’t even bother checking this machine because it is not meant for you.

With 16 levels of resistance, 12 programs, heart rate control and monitoring, the Ironman 250e has a lot of features that you would not expect to see on elliptical with its current price range. It guarantees a more all around workout system that can be accomplished in an exercise machine in a much faster time. Your upper body is getting the workout that it needs because of the arm bars. On the other hand, the lower body is exercised by the foot pedals. It maximizes your exercise time because the elliptical works simultaneously on both the upper as well as the lower body. This will result to a more toned shoulders, arms, back, and legs. In just 20 minutes the Ironman 250e can give you the optimum exercise that your body needs.

Another advantage of this machine is that it is portable and user-friendly. That means that you can easily move it around the house or garden and do your work outs where you feel like it. You can now conveniently do your workout routine in the lawn, garden or even the kitchen while you are waiting for the pot roast to be cooked.

Ironman 250E Elliptical at a glance…

Pros:

Gives flexibility on workout

Budget friendly

Gives an all around workout system

Maximizes your exercise time

Portable

User-friendly

Has great features on its price

Cons:

Short stride

Weight capacity

The Ironman 250e elliptical is an affordable budget machine but it is not budgeted when it comes to its feature. One great buy considering the price and the workout function of this machine.

A Great Buy

ProForm Crosswalk 850 is uniquely designed elliptical with solid construction and a small footprint that makes it compact yet with a velvet-smooth operation.

Equipped with state-of-the-art features like adjustable stride positions, built in speakers for iPod and MP3 dock stations, light touch controls, Grafixx High Resolution display and dual grip EKG Heart Rate Monitor, Proform elliptical helps perform a complete body workout with its 20 levels of resistance varying from gentle stride to a stiff uphill ride. Though some customers have thought otherwise.

“The machine is very sturdy and smooth. It took about 3 hours to put together. It was missing 4 washers when putting together. The description isn’t accurate. It says there is a “coolair fan” but there is not. Proform resolved it by crediting me and assuring they would change the description. Also it states there is an “IPod dock”, which there is not. There is only a USB and stereo jack. It looks like they took their description form the Nordic Track site.”

Only suggestion here would be to read the review and inspect the product well enough before taking a delivery. But, overall, it is ideal for users with small, medium and long heights (up to 22 inches) and quite easy on the space consumption and your budget. Proform’s good warranty is an added advantage.

The 20 levels of resistance have been designed by a Certified Personal Trainer and can be categorised into weight loss, aerobic and performance. All can be adjusted to your needs and requirements. Interplay MP3, a dock station and a fitness journal adds a youth appeal to it and makes it ideal for the younger generation.

ProForm Crosswalk 850 at a Glance…

Pros:

It is incredibly long yet takes less than half space when compared with its contemporaries.

Silent magnetic resistance avoids jerks when changing resistance levels.

Much quieter and smoother than rest of the ellipticals.

Best machine for this price.

Gives best results for all the categories of weight loss, aerobics and fitness.

Cons:

Promises a Power-Packed Enjoyable Workout

E30 folding elliptical is fast becoming popular choice in the elliptical market. E30 offers a combination of low-impact cardio and strength training workout coupled in a single machine. Along with a choice of 10 preset programs that include a manual setting, and 20 resistance settings that help determine the apt type and level of workout for you, you can track your workout progress by using the back-lit console that displays time, calories burned, distance, speed, and pulse.

Apart from this, you can also monitor your heart rate, resistance level, watts, and workout program profile while using the built-in CD player and an MP3 holder that connects directly to your player and uses its integrated speakers.

The footpads are adjustable and handle bars are padded for a better and a comfortable grip. Horizon E30 folding trainer blends different technologies while keeping you fit and entertained throughout your workout session. And, you can easily fold it away for storage. The only issue is with its limited stride length which is limited for people with a small-medium stature. For taller or heavier builds however, a much larger stride length is required.

Other feature that is worth considering is its large number of resistance buttons and programs. No wonder it has earned its present reputation of being one of the most economic and well-performing ellipticals on offer. A proud user has this to say:

This machine will give you an excellent workout. A variety of programs are offered and the resistance levels are commercial grade. I’ve used it everyday for the past two weeks and I already feel a substantial increase in energy. My only problem is that the workout is so superior I’m fearful I may give myself a heart attack. Luckily there is a pulse monitor built into the machine, also speakers for an IPod, a fan, a bottle holder, and a small compartment at the top for your IPod or remote control. There is no book holder but that’s fine by me since I cannot read …while exercising. After superfluous research I feel the Horizon Fitness E30 Folding Elliptical Trainer is by far the economical choice. I’ve experienced no psychological conflict or anxiety resulting from the purchase of this machine. Buy it, and be sure to use the pulse monitor.

Summing up …

Horizon Fitness E30 Folding Elliptical at a Glance…

Cons:

After your workout session you can easily upload your exercise data to your Lifespan online account using a USB device.

The showpiece of the elliptical however, is the attractive LCD console that offers a multitude of synchronized displays and exercise programs that help you reach your fitness goals. It exhibits and tracks your time, heart rate, calories, speed, distance, steps, and resistance level helping you get started and control your workout levels. With a variety of presets workout programs to select from, you can easily pick the one that best matches your fitness needs. The preset program categories include weight loss; healthy living; and sports training…
