The Gazelle Edge is a basic workout option for an elliptical trainer that is easy to use and cheap. It looks much like a conventional elliptical trainer stripped away from almost everything, except the skeleton.

It is sturdy and can hold a user with up to 250 pounds. It has several workout options and a display that monitors speed, distance and burned calories. It was built thinking on basic and general needs of users from an elliptical trainer. It isn’t the best quality elliptical trainer you will find, but it is good enough for most people.

Cheap and great

The unique design for the Gazelle Edge came from the mind of fitness guru Tony Little. The basic idea was to get the same cardio workout as in a treadmill but with less impact on the body. After some engineering meetings, here it is the Gazelle Edge.

When you use the Gazelle Edge is like floating while running, it is the same as an elliptical trainer that provides the user an excellent cardiovascular training. Considering that you would have a treadmill side by side with the Gazelle Edge, you can actually burn more calories with the Gazelle Edge, if the treadmill is set to flat terrain.

By increasing the incline and resistance on the treadmill, or any elliptical trainer, you can burn much more calories than with the Gazelle Edge. And this the major disadvantage from the Gazelle Edge, it has only one resistance level and no incline levels.

It allows a complete range of motion and freedom of movement, with a patented dual action split suspension. The foot platforms are extra wide and made with non skid materials. It is completely smooth and quiet and perfect to have in the house- Beyond this, it comes with an easy to use computer that provides feedback on speed, distance, time and calories burned.

Overall it is a great idea; it provides a great alternative to elliptical trainers, treadmills or even stationary bikes, which are much more expensive than the Gazelle Edge. It provides a very low impact workout, better for anyone with back or joint problems. But, it needs to be used regularly to actually help you get some significant results from your workout.

Gazelle Edge at a Glance…

Pros:

  1. Less impact on the body than other elliptical trainers
  2. Inexpensive

Cons:

  1. No options for interval training
  2. Large and needs space to be used

The Gazelle Edge is very cheap if you compare to the options of elliptical trainers or treadmills. It does take about the same space as the others, and you may want to spend a few more dollars if you want to take advantage of more programs offered from elliptical trainers like steady inclines or increased resistances.
